Bachelor of Criminology and Justice

This course adopts a contemporary international approach to criminology and justice education. It seeks to develop educated practitioners. Therefore, graduates will possess a significant background in contemporary theory and research that informs criminology and justice professions. They will also possess the skills that are required for entry level positions in criminology and justice professions. This dual approach will prepare graduates for positions of future leadership.

Availability: Full-time / Part-time
Duration: 3 years Full-time or Part-time equivalent
Course structure
Students are required to complete 270 credit points (18 units) from their major
field of study. Students are also required to complete 90 credit points
(six unit minor) from a related discipline or 90 credit points (6 elective units).
Year One Semester 1
Students are required to complete the following units:
- CRI1101 Australian Criminal Justice System (Law, Police, Courts and Corrections)
- CRI1102 Quantitative Research Methods in Criminology & Justice
- CRI1103 Criminology
Plus one minor or elective unit of 15 credit points.
Year One Semester 2
Students are required to complete the following units:
- CRI1104 The Psychology of Criminal Behaviour
- CRI1105 Psychology and Criminal Justice
- CRI1106 Minority Groups as Offenders and Victims
Plus one minor or elective unit of 15 credit points
Year Two Semester 1
Students are required to complete the following units:
- CRI2101 Professional Skills - Case Management
- CRI2102 Qualitative Research Methods in Criminology & Justice
- CRI2103 Correctional Studies - Theory and Practice
Plus one Level 2 minor or elective unit of 15 credit points
Year Two Semester 2
Students are required to complete the following units:

- CRI3110 Workplace Practicum *
- CRI3111 Workplace Practicum *
Plus two Level 3 minor or elective units of 15 credit points
* CRI3110 and CRI3111 must be completed in the final semester of study. Both units must be taken in the same semester.
