Background

Professor Robert Harvey, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at Edith Cowan University came to Edith Cowan University in 2003 after a long and distinguished career in the public sector.

Professor Harvey came from the Department of Justice where in the position of Executive Director Community and Juvenile Justice he oversaw the introduction of the State's first privately operated prison and led significant change in an important part of the State's criminal justice system. Previously he performed a number of key roles in the Department of Contract and Management Services. For some years he also held senior positions in the then Water Authority of Western Australia.

Long experience in contracting has enabled Professor Harvey to have an extensive network of colleagues in both the public and private sectors.

Professor Harvey has extensive experience in strategic and change management and places particular emphasis on the importance of organisational vision and values.
