First things first: Activating your student computing accounts
Before you can use any of the university's computing services, access your student email or connect to our modem pool, you will need to activate you student computing accounts
What is Student Webmail?
As an ECU Student, you have an official ECU student email account.
This is our official channel of communication with you - you'll need to check this student email account regularly.
If you need to communicate by email with ECU staff - i.e. your lecturers, tutors or your Student Information Officer - you should use this student email account.
We will use this email account to send important updates, including:
- Enrolment periods
- Your enrolment - i.e. changes to your timetable as a result of changes to unit activities
- Exams
- Library notices
What is MyECU (Blackboard)?
MyECU, also called Blackboard is the online learning environment at ECU.
MyECU enables you to access study materials for your units, including:
- Unit outlines and unit plans
- Assignments and lecture notes
- Unit discussion forums
What is SIMO?
The Student Information Management Online system (SIMO) allows you to:
- Re-enrol and alter your enrolment
- View and update your personal details, including address and contact details
- Check your progress through a course, including unit sets listed, credit points completed and course status
- Check advanced standing granted to you
- Check your examination timetable
- See your results
- Look up fee information
What are Elabs?
General computing facilities for the use of all enrolled ECU students - for assignment work, research and other uses related to your course
What is ECU Wireless?
ECU has a wireless network on each campus.
About the ECU Library
Offers a wide range of reference resources and services to ECU students - both on campus and off-campus.
Faculty Library Team
The Faculty Library team provides a wide range of services and support to Business and Law students studying oncampus and offcampus (online).
What is a University SmartCard?
It's a photo ID card and your proof of identity for use of ECU student facilities, a Library borrowing card, a Photocopying / printing card and, if you choose, you can use the card as a Transperth SmartRider.
What is the Building Access Card?
The Building Access Card allows entry to specially equipped areas and entry to areas outside of normal ECU opening hours. Access to areas via this card is driven by your enrolment.
What is LabInfo Online
ECU Faculties and Schools offer specialist computing facilities to students enrolled into their courses and/or units. You can use LabInfo Online to find out what facilities you can use as a Faculty of Business and Law student!
