You can apply to intermit for a specified period - which does not exceed two consecutive teaching semesters, in accordance with the ECU (Admission, Enrolment and Academic Progress) Rules.
If your request to intermit is successful, you course status will be Intermit

Things to know about applying to intermit
- If you have no results
- You will need to apply to discontinue your course.
- If you are a commencing student and have not yet accepted your TISC offer
- You should consider deferring your offer. This can be done within the VIP site.

If I'm discontinued, do I have to re-apply if I want to study the course?
No, you need to apply to resume the course. Applications to resume a course can be found in Student Information - Forms.
Important Dates
There are two major census dates within the semester:
Financial Penalty Date
If you wish to intermit/discontinue without incurring financial liability for units you are enrolled in, you'll need to do so before this date
Academic Penalty Date
If you wish to intermit/discontinue without incurring an academic penalty for units you are enrolled in, you'll need to do so before this date.
Applying for withdrawal without penalty
If you experienced exceptional extenuating circumstances and need to intermit or discontinue your course but the financial and/or academic penalty dates have passed for the current semester, you may be eligible to apply for a special withdrawal without penalty.
You will need contact Student Central for relevant forms, criteria for the evaluation of your application and for information about accompanying documentation.
The Counselling Service can assess whether your situation meets the criteria for such a withdrawal and assist with supporting documentation where appropriate.
