Business and Law Campus Consolidation
The Faculty of Business and Law is working towards consolidating its presence onto ECU's Joondalup and Mount Lawley campuses, in line with ECU's strategic Campus Consolidation Plan and the development of the Joondalup and Mount Lawley Learning Precincts.
Faculty of Business and Law staff are looking forward to the development of a new building at Mount Lawley Campus, along with refurbishment of existing facilities at Joondalup and Mount Lawley as part of relocation plans for staff and students affected by the closure of the Churchlands Campus during 2008.
Business and Law Consolidation Plans
Joondalup Campus will continue to be the primary focus for Business and Law full-time undergraduate and research course offerings. Mount Lawley will take over from Churchlands as the Faculty's inner-suburban campus in mid-2008. It will be the focus for postgraduate coursework and part-time undergraduate courses.
Joondalup
The establishment of the Joondalup Learning Precinct and the development of the new Library Building aligned with the consolidation of the Faculty's Research Centres onto Joondalup Campus, will enable the Faculty to continue its close alignment with local business, government, commerce and industry; and to offer education and research programs tailored to emerging areas of growth and opportunity.
To accommodate the increased staff presence at Joondalup, the Faculty has developed a Relocation Plan for Joondalup Campus. This plan will involve a series of minor works as well as the relocation of several Faculty of Business and Law Schools and Centres on Joondalup Campus.
Mt Lawley
The development of the new Business and Law building at Mount Lawley is well underway, with the building scheduled for occupation mid-2008.
The $25.8 million complex is being built on the site of the old gymnasium at Mount Lawley and will accommodate the Faculty of Business and Law, the Perth Institute of Business and Technology and IT Services. It will also house the campus' e-lab and include a 100-seat lecture theatre.
The new building will reflect the University's innovative approach to teaching and learning and will incorporate technologies and teaching spaces which will enhance Faculty of Business and Law programs. The building will contain a student service area, staff workstations, a postgraduate common room and an executive boardroom. There will be a range of teaching areas including computer labs, case study rooms, tutorial rooms and breakout rooms.
Churchlands
The closure of Churchlands Campus during 2008 is part of ECU's strategic Campus Consolidation Plan to concentrate the University's activities at Joondalup and Mount Lawley in the metropolitan area and the South West Campus in Bunbury.
