Abstract:

The Home Building Industry in WA is the heir to a tradition of artisan craftsmanship going back 5,000 years. According to the literature the digital revolution has made only limited headway in the industry and small business in general. Further the scope and depth of research into these issues is very limited. This study will determine how ICT is being used in the industry and whether companies have made strategic use of the resource, or whether ICT is now becoming embedded in the ordinary processes of business, that is it has really become a commodity. It will investigate what future directions offer the best opportunity for competitive advantage to companies in the home building industry.
