Current Research Area:

Research Interest:

My research interests focus on behavioural finance - the impact of people's behavioural and personality traits on their financial decisions. I am particularly interested in how individuals make decisions about buying shares and other financial assets and how they make decisions about retirement savings and superannuation.

My colleagues, Paul Gerrans and Craig Speelman (from the School of Psychology), and I are undertaking a long-term study, with the support of several superannuation funds, into how Australian workers make decisions about superannuation.

Paul Gerrans and I are also undertaking a study of financial literacy and knowledge of superannuation among Indigenous Australians.

Previous work included the use of adaptive conjoint analysis, a research methodology from consumer behaviour, to explore the factors that are important to individual investors when they make decisions about buying shares.
