Strategic Industry Alliances

As part of its strategic objectives, the School of Management Information System strives to develop and maintain links with key IT and business organisations.

The main current industry links for the School are as follows:

Specifications
An alliance with Microsoft allows the School to use the Microsoft Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application Dynamics AX (previously known as Axapta) for teaching ERP to students.
The School is currently awaiting confirmation of a grant from IBM for the funding of a research project focusing on the use of development methodologies (March 2006).
Associate Professor Sue Stoney and the WA Department of Education and Training will jointly be conducting a project titled On-line training for small business: Creating a best practice model, following Associate Professor Stoney's recent award of an Australian Research Council grant for $146,000 over three years (December 2005).
The City of Wanneroo is supporting a small business project focusing on SME's and e-business clustering.

The School of Management has recently adopted the specialist software ShopFactory for use in the Web Commerce Development units within the e-Commerce major and the Masters of Management Information Systems. ShopFactory is one of the most widely used e-commerce solutions in the world with more than 203,000 online shops created since 1996.

The School of Management has recently adopted the specialist software Enterprise Architect and Zachmann extension for use in the Information Systems units within the Master of Management Information Systems. Enterprise Architect is a comprehensive UML analysis and design tool, covering software development from requirements gathering, through to the analysis stages, design models, testing and maintenance.
